Poster design o(*°▽°*)o

Hi everybody (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

So for our final project in class, we get to explore doing things we want to do personally! Ever since our texture drawing assignment, I was thinking of taking my traditional artwork from that assignment (pictured below), and putting it on an online platform to edit it and make it into a physical product like a poster!

Here is the traditional art I wanted to use:

Thinking back on my art class, I remembered exploring different AI platforms. Usually, for projects I use ChatGPT, but time I wanted to explore something different. I looked at Perplexity AI and Google Gemni which I had used before in class to create digital images based on prompts. I wanted it to clean up this photo into a digital file for me to edit in Canva. I tried uploading the image on both platforms but realized they required subscriptions to upload and create images. I remembered my laptop had a AI assistant, Copilot, so I used this instead with my school account. I asked it to turn the drawing into a digital photo, removing the stickers and magazine wording so I could move on to customizing it in Canva.

Here was the outcome which I was really happy with:

I put it in Canva and made it my own and here is the final product!

It's not perfect, and maybe I'll go in and edit it more but overall, this was a fun process. I loved turning my traditional sketch into something digital and cool. I don't think this would be something I would sell, but I'd love to see it on my wall. My next goal is finding the cheapest poster printing place because I don't have money lol.

Until next time!

product designing... (o゜▽゜)o☆

Inspo

For this project, I wanted to create something that reflected a flowery plant aesthetic. I was drawn to using bold floral shapes and natural colors that feel vibrant but still grounded. I looked at artists like William Morris, who uses repetition and nature-inspired elements in his work. His designs showed me how patterns can feel both structured and organic at the same time.

Concept Development o(*°▽°*)o

My main idea started with a simple drawing of a floral arrangement. I'd vectorized this from a stamp artwork I made earlier in my art class and created a bouquet using orange flowers, purple blossoms, and layered green leaves in a vase. I chose flowers because they are visually interesting and allow for variation in shape and color, which I think is important in pattern design.

Original stamp artwork:

Vectorized image:

From there, I asked Chat GPT to give me pattern ideas using this design. This was the outcome:

I decided the best design for me to work with would either be the bottom left design with the patterned sleeves, or bottom middle. I asked ChatGPT to break the my vectorized art into different parts:

  • Main element: the full flower bouquet
  • Secondary elements: individual purple flowers and leaves
  • Accent element: simplified vase shapes

This helped me turn one drawing into multiple pieces that I could reuse in a pattern, and ChatGPT gave me this outcome:

Color Palette o(*^▽^*)┛

I chose a warm, earthy color palette to match the natural theme:

  • Purple for contrast and balance
  • Orange because its fun
  • Multiple greens for depth and realism
  • Brown as a subtle grounding color
  • Cream as the background to keep everything soft and cohesive

Final Product

I applied my final pattern to a product design. The pattern worked well because it was evenly distributed and visually balanced. The repeating floral elements created a cohesive look across the entire surface. Thinking about bit more, I feel like this specific pattern would be more fitting on an accessory instead of a crewneck. Here were some of the products I experimented the design with on https://www.contrado.com/customizable-accessories : (laptop case, bag, "luxury shower cap." (>'-'<))

If I were to improve it, I would experiment more with scale variation probably making some flowers larger or smaller to add even more visual interest. I think if I do go for a shirt I will also try making the more simplified pattern for just the sleeves and heat press the design onto a sweatshirt. My dad owns a custom design business for clothing and other things, so his tools will definitely come in handy if I choose to make the product using that simpler design instead. His IG is @ejp08_deisgn under the logo shown below if you'd like to check him out!

Reflection

This project helped me understand that pattern design is not just about making something look good-it also involves structure, planning, and repetition. It's actually a lot more work than I thought¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/

Overall, this project pushed me to combine creativity with technical skills, and it gave me a better understanding of how patterns are used in real-world design. It was fun overall.

trying new things! (ദ്ദി ๑>؂•̀๑)

 Hello everyone!

This week's project was absolutely one of the most fun art assignments I've had to do for this class. I followed a few tutorials from my classmate's blogs. Here are the links, so go check their sites out!

Cootie Catcher Tutorial - https://studioliviablog.blogspot.com/2026/03/cootie-catcher-art-tutorial.html?m=1

The First tutorial I followed was my classmate Misty's cartoon perspective city drawing. It was such a fun and creative activity, and I enjoyed it very much! All you need is paper, pencil, a ruler and things to color in the drawing. Here was my final outcome:

Next, I followed June's tutorial on how to draw a cute bunny. It's such a simple and cute doodle, and I love to doodle, so I really enjoyed doing this one.

Finally, I followed Olivia's tutorial on how to take a origami cootie catcher. I remember kids making these all the time back in elementary school, but I've never made one myself, so this was very new and fun to do. I actually don't remember how to use these, but if you guys have any idea what I should do with it, let me know!

I hope you all enjoy these projects as much as I did. Thank you to my classmates for making such creative and fun tutorials to follow.

Until next time!

                                         bye!

super ez art tut: how to draw manulua

Hi everybody! I hope everyone is well. Today, I'm making a tutorial on how to draw one of Tonga's simplest of patterns: the manulua.

In Tongan culture, the manulua is often found on our ngatu, which is kind of like a mat made of tree bark, where patterns and designs are drawn on it. It's often portrayed as a symbol of unity, and it was the first pattern I learned how to draw when I was younger. It's so easy a toddler could do it!

These are an important piece of the design, as you will see it on many of the ngatu in Tongan Culture. Observe...

Could you find it??? Awesome (´▽`) 👍

HOW TO DRAW THE MANULUA

a super ez tutorial.

MATERIALS

❀ Paper

❀ Writing Utensil of Choice in color of choice (I'm using red marker.)

TUTORIAL

Alright. To start the drawing, you can complete this in 4 steps.

➀ you start by making a square for the pattern to sit in. Next,

➁ you draw an x in the box, with the ends of the lines hitting the corners of the square - do your best to keep the lines straight, but honestly, don't stress too much about it. Most of these designs are freehand without rulers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Okay, ➂ now you are going to make a + sign in that square, crossing over the x and meeting at the middle. Cool! You made the outline for the manulua, now you just have to color it in.

Finally, ➃ you are going to fill in a triangle with the color, skip the next triangle and fill in the next until you have this:

lol that was easy, huh...

Now that you've learned this design, you can make it a pattern or incorporate it into your own designs. Just be creative!

Thanks for reading, until next time (o゚v゚)ノ

stamp making - failures and different approaches

 Hi everyone!

This week, I was following a tutorial on making stamps from my art teacher's blog. You can check it out here!

Anyways, I started off by sketching design ideas. I love drawing flowers, so that was my first idea. After I drew on the design and grabbed my carving tool, I realized my younger brothers had got hold of it and lost all but one of the tips... ( ノ ゚ー゚)ノ┏━┓

here was the initial design and a then a simpler design I decided to draw on the stamp. After trying to carve it out, I hurt my hand because I wasn't being too careful with the tip... (❁´◡`❁)👉👈 lesson learned. At this point I knew that I wouldn't be able to continue carving out this design. I thought "what can I do????" Then I had an idea...

I saw this scrap stamp sheet that I tossed to the side, and I had the thought to carve shapes out as a whole and use multiple of these stamps to make a bigger picture design... Sorry, I don't know if that made sense.

See, here, I had the idea to continue with a flower design, but make different stamp shapes to make the whole bouquet. I cut out random blobs with scissors to make the flowers, leaves and even the vase!

I used the different stamp colors to make the drawing stand out, and I tried to emphasize a variety of colors in monochromatic schemes (if that makes sense..) It was super fun to make and was something new that I enjoyed making. I think I will try again in the future to make a carved out stamp of my own design again, with better safety precautions... It is a lot of work, but it is fun (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

So, to continue, I showed ChatGPT my drawing and asked it to give me an idea on what to make of the drawing, and what I could add to make it a complete art piece. Here is the output it gave me:

I think it's beautiful! But it's not exactly how I wanted to to be, as I wanted it to look more like a painting. But I liked the idea of making it as if it were standing on it's own shadow. So, I took my drawing, imported it to a free background remover, copy/pasted it into Adobe Fresco, and used the water brush to create a blue background by blending two different blues together. I also drew on a shadow for the bouquet, and the piece was complete! Here it is, and it's very simple, but I'm happy with it's outcome.

Welp, that's it from me for this week. Thanks to everyone who reads, I'll post again soon! Hope everyone has a good week.

bye! (o^∀^o)ノシ

first post - kind of nervous... 𐔌՞. .՞𐦯 👉👈

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog ╰(*°▽°*)╯

I made this blog for an art project at my school, but I'm super excited to see where this goes in the long run. I've always kind of thought about making a writing blog, but never had the motivation to do it, so I guess here we are now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯:D:D yay

For my art class, I'm supposed to write a post on something I learned in the class. A project we did recently was learning to make art with texture. So I made a little art piece of a flower and I made it using dry paint, stickers and magazine scraps. I recorded myself trying to explain the process and turned it in to my teacher, and it was a really fun project

(❁´◡`❁) here is the video:

Well, that's all I'll write for now - I have to go study for my pbh exam now (°ロ°)

bye!
